Shenandoah Switch Grass (Panicum v)
Dark green spring foliage gradually adds reddish purple hues throughout the growing season. This plants small stature makes it a good substitute for Japanese Blood Grass which is no longer available in Kansas. Being in the Switch Grass family, it blooms in early summer with an attractive pinkish flower/seed head.
